Twitter for Good
We believe the open exchange of information can have a positive impact on the world.
Areas of focus
We’re committed to safety, equality, and free expression.
Our philanthropic mission is to make the world a better place by harnessing the positive power of Twitter. We embrace this goal through civic engagement, volunteerism, and partnerships with charities around the world. Our company embraces this mission by focusing our support where we can make the greatest impact.
Internet safety and education
We support organisations that tackle online safety issues such as bullying, abuse, gender-based harassment, and hateful conduct.
Women and underrepresented minorities in tech
We support efforts that open doors to women and underrepresented minorities of all ages to programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. To further empower women and their online safety, we started #PositionofStrength.
Universal access and adoption
We believe that all communities should have affordable access to the Internet. That’s why we work closely with NGOs and charities around the world to enable them to share their mission on Twitter and to showcase the benefits of Internet access through the compelling work these NGOs do in their communities.
Emergency response and disaster recovery
We are active global citizens. When emergencies or natural disasters strike, we offer tools and programmes that support communication between victims, first responders, and humanitarian relief efforts.
Serving our communities allows us to learn, connect, and grow together.
The philanthropic efforts of our Twitter employees around the globe help cultivate understanding, equality, and opportunity in our communities.
We work with non-profit organisations all over the world to help them with best practices to develop a more effective and engaging presence on Twitter. In San Francisco, the @NeighborNest, located directly across the street from Twitter HQ, provides a family-friendly learning centre for the local community.
Several times a year, our employees participate in a global day of service called #TwitterForGood Day. We partner with non-profit organisations and spend the day helping them with their service to our local communities.
We’re here for our city.
We want to see our hometown flourish. That’s why we engage with local officials on community needs. One way we do this is by working closely with the City Administrator’s Office on our Community Benefit Agreement. This agreement helps guide many of our local social responsibility efforts as a company.
